The stewardship of our finances is a tremendous—and often overlooked—area of our lives where we can faithfully proclaim the gospel. Giving strengthens our devotion to Christ and frees us to live open-handedly with the gifts God gives us. We trust in Him and His provision instead of our perceived self-sufficiency. I have three children. Since Joey is the oldest one, when I imagine future conversations about things that my kids are too young to understand now, I imagine talking to him about those things first. One day (Lord willing) Joey will turn 16 and get his first job. And somewhere around that time, I’m going to want to talk to him about how his finances intersect with his church life.
