New Series Begins January 1!

What do you think of when you hear the phrase, “Open House”? For me, I have almost exclusively heard this term used by school teachers and realtors. And in both cases it is used to mean something like: “A time for newcomers to show up and check it out” - whatever the “it” may be. It’s a time to come and see what is being done and a time for the people hosting the open house to explain some of the basics.
The Newest Elder on the Board of Good News Church: Daniel Gilland
On Saturday, January 14, the elders nominated Daniel Gilland to be an elder serving on the governing board of Good News Church. We announced the nomination the following Tuesday (January 17) in the church newsletter.

Recently, I was thinking about something related to church life that reminded me of something about parenting life.  In both cases, a family is started, there is growth and, at times, growing pains. And as the family matures, there is both a kind of grieving that happens - at the loss of something that only exists in the early stages - as well as a rejoicing regarding some of the fruits of growth and maturity.
