The director got up and said something like, “If you’d like to see more Christian theater like this in our community, please put some money in the buckets on your way out.”
Well, if I remember right, they weren’t really on my way out. Instead, there were two middle schoolers holding buckets by the front entrance (not the side that I parked my car on) and I had to go out of my way to put money in the bucket.
And yet I did it. Why?
Because I heard what the director said and wanted to support the cause. She said, “If you’d like to see more of this in our community” and I thought to myself, “I would like to see more of this in our community!” I realized that this was an opportunity for me to cause more of something that I wanted to happen to happen.
It also dawned on me that I wouldn’t have given any money at all if she hadn’t asked. It’s not that I’m against Christian theater; in fact quite the opposite. It’s just that it wouldn’t have crossed my mind to try to track the director down and hand her some cash. However, given the opportunity, I wanted to support the cause.
That brings me to Good News Church. There may be some of you who haven’t donated money to Good News Church lately because I haven’t specifically asked for it. Well, that’s a shame, because I have pretty good reasons for not regularly asking for money (outlined in this article) So, if it’s constant reminders that you need, I suppose we won’t be getting much support from you.
However, even though I don’t regularly ask for money, I do bring it up every once in a while. And this is the way I wanted to phrase it this time: “If you’d like to see more of what Good News does to be happening in this community, please support us financially.”
It’s that simple. You have the opportunity to cause more of something that you want to happen to happen. Please support us today.
