A Rice Bowls Project Update

June 21, 2022 Doug Davison Announcement

On May 29th, the Rice Bowls project was introduced as an opportunity to share the Gospel and provide food to orphan children around the world - especially in extreme poverty countries. (www.ricebowls.org)

The last two weeks, on Sunday mornings, the rice bowls (full of coins, bills and checks) have been flowing into the foyer, literally smashed open, and monies dumped into a collection container.

Speaking of coins, have you ever heard the phrase: “A penny for your thoughts”? Probably so. The simplest meaning to this phrase is: “What’s on your mind?” or “Tell me what you are thinking.” Based on the pennies collected, there are 9,708 thoughts to share about the generosity of the giving demonstrated for this project! Add to those 9,708 pennies all the nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and Susan B. Anthony dollars (we didn’t include the few foreign coins or Chucky Cheese game tokens ?) collected and the total amount of coins collected is $1,878.00! (Let me give a great big THANK YOU to everyone who helped collect, count, and roll these coins.) Add the cash and checks to the collected coins and the grand total  is … perhaps you had better sit down to read this. The grand total collected from the Rice Bowls project (drum roll please) … $7,978.38!!!

PRAISE GOD!

May God use these funds to help children physically and spiritually, and may God continue to make us people who are becoming more and more compassionate in giving to those who are in need. In Jesus name give compassionately.
