Some Christmas Ideas

November 29, 2018 Mario Villella Discipleship

Want to make this December a Christmas to remember? One that makes a good use of this holiday time? Here are some suggestions:
  1. Don’t go overboard on the presents. For some of you, it will put you into debt, which is virtually a type of slavery. Some of you may have to work and sacrifice time away from your family in April or May, just to pay off the gifts you give them in December.
  2. Even if you are rich (and don’t need to borrow to do it) don’t go overboard on the presents this year. I remember when I was a kid, my family bought me so many gifts (it seemed like 20 or more each year). I definitely LOVED Christmas, but for all the wrong reasons. I would imagine that it’s at least somewhat difficult for a child to mentally connect Christmas with the worship of Jesus Christ, if the whole season seems to revolve around them. I suppose the same thing applies to adults. So be careful.
  3. Make memories. Eat good food. Spend quality time with loved ones. And serve other people as if they are even more important than you are.
  4. Consider giving money to an organization the helps the poor, or perhaps help a poor family directly.
  5. Celebrate the way you would if you believed that the most important thing you can do with this December is worship God… because it is.
  6. Come to our sermon series, Back to Bethlehem, at Good News Church. The current plan is to look at three stories in the Bible that mention the town of Bethlehem. We’ll probably do the Ruth story on December 16, the David story on December 23, and the Jesus story on December 24.
  7. Plan to be at the Christmas Eve service at Good News Church at 5:00pm on December 24.
Man, these ideas were good!
