What Does It Mean To Be A Biblical Church?

At Good News, we feel that it is very important that we explain to you not only what we do, but why we do what we do. It is definitely worth our time and effort to continually explain our church's values and explain a little bit about their effect.

This month, we want to answer the question: What does it mean to be a Biblical Church?

We believe that we should be a church that goes by the Bible. We will always teach and preach from the Bible, using the words of Scripture as our authority. This means our teaching will be distinct from the recent trend of having the preacher give nice little talks where he postulates his own opinions about how life ought to be lived, and then quotes a verse at the end to make it feel Christian.

But even more than that, we will not only preach it, we will be governed by it. It will not only affect our sermons, but also our prayers, our goal setting, how we deal with conflict, what kind of buildings and facilities we have, how we deal with sin, how we train our children, how we spend and budget money, and on and on. Basically, I'm trying to say that God's Word will be our covenant constitution for everything we do in this life.
