How I Feel About My Small Group

March 19, 2012 Mario Villella

“The main thing I appreciate about our small group is spiritual accountability. When we share prayer requests, and I promise to pray for the various needs people share, I find it helps me to make time to pray. I not only pray for the needs of our fellow small group members, but I always end up adding concerns of my own, and having a wonderful time of close fellowship with the Lord. Preparing for the group lesson gets me into God’s word, and I find myself reading extra verses and using a concordance to reference other passages that are relevant to the question at hand. I love the way we help each other. If someone in the group needs help with anything from moving a piece of furniture to a meal because of illness, we are there for each other. Getting to know each other has made us accountable to each other and more like a true church “family” that love and help each other. I am so glad someone had the courage to ask us, total strangers, to be part of a small group. God is good.” Brad Hoopes
“This is the testimony of Michael Voisine. I am a guy who went from little belief that God even existed, to a guy who is willing to do anything to glorify God. Before Good News Church of Ocala I was very lost, very confused, and very alone. With the help of my small group, Mario, and other friends from this church I feel that anything is possible. God has lit a fire inside my heart to seek out, learn, and spread His word wherever life brings me. Good News Ocala has shown me that not every church is the same, and that there are still people in this world who don’t judge you for your past. Also, that when you meet the right people, they are more than willing to help you through the good and bad times.” Michael Voisine
“When we received an invitation to a small group we were cautiously excited. We were looking forward to meeting up with everyone and having a good evening, but were skeptical of making a commitment with these semi-strangers. We stepped out of our comfort zone though and decided to give it a try and we are thankful now every week that we did. It went from something we were just going to try, to something that we now plan things around. It is difficult to put it into words the impact it has had on us in just a few weeks. I have made friends that are not only just a fun group of people, but that actually care about each other. There are times I believe that God brought this group together just for me. Now, my feelings about being in a small group is not just about meeting up and making friends, it is so much more than that, it is about connecting emotionally and spiritually with each other. That feeling is not something that can be explained. It is to be experienced for yourself.” Jacky Hyatt
