God, The Worshipper

For many, I’m sure this isn’t a typical view of God. We have God, the comforter, the vengeful, the jealous, the merciful, the sacrifice, but rarely do we think of God as “the worshipper”. That is exactly what He does though.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

This passage refers to when God is coming back. The world is corrupt and He will destroy our enemies. Our dictators, bullies, abusers, thugs, villains. They will be “cleared away”, and we will be exulted over.

Exult: “show or feel elation or jubilation especially as the result of a success”.

Our God is a happy God. We often don’t think of Him this way, but He sings. He rejoices over us with gladness. Often people are wondering why we sing at church? This is why. Our God sings over us. As Christians we strive to be like God, and God sings.
